In The Heights

My mom, sister, and I went to New York back in 2008. We went to "In The Heights" because it was on all of the billboards for winning the Tony Award that year. Glad we did. It was an incredible play. It came to Utah and my mom got us tickets. My niece, Makell enjoyed it as well. She was funny, every time the actors spoke in Spanish she wanted to know what they said. This was a great experience with my niece, mother, and sister.

TOP OF UTAH MARATHON FINISHER

I did it!
I finished a marathon...26.2 miles!!! I did it in 5:07 hours. My goal was less than five hours but I will take it. I loved the first 18 miles. My body was feeling great and miles 1-15 were downhill. My quads are feeling it today. I started feeling blisters near the end and around mile 22 my feet were just aching. I had to stop at an aid station and wrapped up my feet. I finished!!! My sister met me at mile 17 and ran the last 9 with me. That was refreshing and such a blessing. It renewed my energy and kept me going. Before this race I said I wouldn't do another marathon. Now, I would like to do the Ogden marathon. I will have to see. The training takes so much time but the marathon race made it worth it. I loved the experience. I did it!!!

Amy and I chatted with this gentlemen. He has ran 333 marathons and the last few years has ran one a month. He said his favorite marathon was Disneyland.
Zazoosh needs to learn the do a down angle...that darn double chin. Even training for a marathon can't get rid of it.
Megan & Marissa - Rock stars!
Leanne & Erin - Running like crazy!
Thanks Amy for helping me finish this thing;) I love you!

26.2 in 2 days

I have run 5 half marathons and this year decided to run the Logan Top of Utah marathon. I've been training for six months and the race will start Saturday...ready or not. Here's hoping I will feel healthy, full of energy, and my feet will cooperate during the race. Amy, is going to meet me at mile 16 and run the last 10 with me. I sure love and respect her. She is a great sister and friend! I will need her energy and the distraction.

I am predicting to run the marathon in five hours or less. I ran 20 miles in 4 hours during a training run so I am hoping the race adrenaline and course will help me keep a faster pace. I have no time limit really...my goal is to finish.

20 and 6.2 to go

With three weeks to go til the full 26.2 marathon...I had a 20 miler ahead of me. I went to bed early the night before, drank my Isagenix protein shake, got my gear all ready, and when morning hit...off I hit the pavement. I was surprised how well I was feeling by mile 16. I had energy, my feet weren't aching, and I gained a bit of confidence that I KNEW I COULD DO IT!

My 20 mile run went well...no new blisters. I recently purchased new shoes. I paid out the nose for them but no new blisters = worth every penny!

Timp 13.1

Today I ran the Timpanogos Half Marathon. It was a great race experience and I would have to say my second favorite (Moab first fav). The course went down American Fork Canyon and along the river trail. It was a quicker race for me, I could've done it in two hours or less but I stopped and used the bathroom twice.

The medals are huge w/ a cool design and the shirt fits great & cute too!
7 weeks until the Top of Utah Marathon!!!
Next race...Sept. 1 Salt Lake Half Marathon
*KEEP CALM AND RUN ON*

ZZ Ward

I went to a house concert party last night and two girls sang this song. I wish I had their version...amazing! I love ZZ Ward's voice and raw talent. How have I not heard about her before?

Last Love Song lyrics

We were never the marrying type, oh no,
We won't buy dishes or stained glass lights, oh no,
For a table we'll never sit at,
In the house that we won't ever get,

I won't wake up and pick out your tie, oh no,
You won't come home and kiss me at night, oh no,
We won't lie in this king bed for two,
Say goodbye to us saying "I dos,"

No more white picket fences,
No more lace veils or vows,
No more "You're the only one" 'cause that's all done with now,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,

Take these roses and this Jameson, oh no,
Find a subway that I can sit in, oh no,
Buy a one-way out of this city,
Everything that I need, got it with me,

No more white picket fences,
No more lace veils or vows,
No more "You're the only one" 'cause that's all done with now,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,

All these notes and all these words,
Are all that's left in me,
Bend these pages, count my woes,
One last song to set me free,

No more white picket fences,
No more lace veils or vows,
No more "You're the only one" 'cause that's all done with now,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you,
This is the last love song I'll ever write for you, oh.

A few other songs from ZZ Ward that I now like:

Wasatch Crest Trail

What can I say about the Wasatch Crest trail? EPIC! I love this ride. Your legs feel the uphill but it's 4 miles and the rest is a downhill party on mostly single track terrain.

Bells Canyon

My mom is the best! I love that she'll go hiking with me. We both love to hike to lakes or waterfalls. Bells Canyon did both. We hiked to Bells Reservoir and then to the first waterfall.
Not sure how we missed this hike before but, WOW! Bells Canyon to the first waterfall is a beauty! The trail is 4 miles round trip and the last half is mostly in the shade next to the river.
(Bells Canyon info. click here)
On our hike down we saw a snake on the side of the trail but didn't know what kind. I couldn't see the whole body. I peered over and threw a few rocks to get it off of the trail. It RATTLED and my mom and I freaked out and ran away from the snake. It slithered away and then we were nervous to walk past the area it was...we sprinted fast past that section and finished the hike down. Funny how I don't get nervous about rattle snakes until I see one. There were probably dozens of snakes in the mnts. near us but never knew it.

* The truth is many snakebites occur without a warning.
* Avoiding the snakebite from the start just seems to be the best approach. Follow these general tips: Leave snakes alone. Don't try to kill snakes. Stay on trails. Stay out of high grasses; they hide snakes really well. Wearing leather boots might prevent a few bites. Don't put your arms and legs where you can't keep track of them. Some experts say a snake can strike half its length. If you see one, double or triple that distance for a margin of safety.
IF YOU GET BIT:
