Moab Rain & Shine

Nine of us headed down to Moab for the weekend. Friday Ben and I left early to be able to ride Slick Rock. We only had time for part of it but the 6 miles we rode was spectacular! When we started looking for a camping site everything was booked. With the suggestion from my brother-in-law we found a site just past the Slick Rock trailhead. It was perfect at that time. Thanks Krehl!

Porcupine Rim was a fantastical ride. We started in the pouring rain heading uphill along slick rock and mud. The uphill was a killer for me but of course slow and steady got me to the top. The view was amazing and our lunch hit the spot. We had two in our group that hadn't ridden much and they both rocked this trail. During the ride we had moments of sun & rain. Just before the worst storm we had a few miles in the sun. Felt great!

When we saw the storm moving in, it looked like a wall of doom coming right at us. It rained cats & dogs, thundered, and lightning. We hid under a rock and waited until the worst part past. The last part of the trail was a trip. It was single track along the rim of the Colorado River. Gorgeous!!!

After church we hiked Delicate Arch and visited Landscape Arch and Wall Arch. I didn't wear sunblock and got fried. Our group was amazing - we all pitched in with food, driving, and crashes. We kept each other laughing. Thanks groupies!!!

6

Last night we went to the SL REAL vs. NEW ENGLAND soccer game. The first half wasn't very entertaining. Real scored one goal but the rest of the game was just back and forth BUT the second half was insaine!!! They scored a total of 6 goals. They attempted many goals and a lot of their attempts were corner kicks. The excitement of the crowd made that game worth it! We got tickets for only $10 thanks to our ward and our seats were awesome. It was raining cats and dogs just two hours before the game started. I was debating about even going. Glad I did. It cleared up and the weather and game was fantastical! I wish I had the endurance of the Real players. They are tough.

Meat

After biking Corner Canyon Friday we had a BBQ at Melissa's. I wish I would've taken a picture of her BBQer. It is set in stone, huge, and beautiful. Any lover of meat would agree. The sprinkling rain didn't stop us sitting by the fire and roasting mallows. These are the times...got to love Spring!

Test ride

Melissa and I went to REI to get fitted for a road bike. We have been looking around but thought it would be best if we knew what size and style to look for. The worker was pretty funny and made the process humorous. Melissa makes any outing a laugh! After getting fitted he told us the bikes that would best fit our bodies. REI only had one under $1,000 of course and the rest were $1,000-3,000. We test rode the Novara Carema and had a ball. With bright colored vests and borrowed helmet we cruised around the parkinglot to get a feel for the bike. I loved it! I do not necessarily want that bike but the frame size fit like a glove. I will keep looking and hunting for a good fitting & quality bike with an affordable price (that has been the hard part.)

In training

I've been in a fitness funk lately and decided what better way to get in shape than to train and race in a Sprint Triathlon. My good friend and I are 8 weeks away from the Highline Hustle in Grand Junction, CO. My sister lives in Fruita, CO and told me it's a great first triathlon. For a week I have been running, swimming, biking, and lifting. My body is screaming - I am so sore! To be honest I love it. I need this!

Four Years Old & Already Mountain Biking

Posted by Picasa

For Spring Break my family & I are in Fruita, CO biking, four wheeling, and more. Today we took my 4 year old nephew, Kaison, mountain biking. He has been riding without training wheels for two months. He is an animal. This ride is called Rustlers. It is a green beginner ride but for a 4 year old it is probably a black. He rode almost all of it. He only walked the cliffs and parts of the uphills. He attempted most of the uphills and when he got tired he stopped and walked up. My favorite saying is, "When you're walking your mountain bike, you are still mountain biking." Way to go Kaison!!! We are going to ride many great trails in your future!!!

Happy Easter!

31

I read this quote on a friend's blog. I love it! I recently turned 31 and it was a fantastic day! I am truly blessed and loved. I have so many people in my life that make me smile, laugh, and realize how great life really is! Thank you family and friends. My class was sweet and very giving all day. I love those little fourthees - even those days that they make me want to scream. In the end - love 'em. My family and friends showered me with calls, visits, cards, texts, and facebook messages. It reminds me that I need to go out of my way to call my friends and do more visits on random days. My parents and grandparents took me to one of my favorite places to eat - Bonzi (similar to Tepanyaki). I just love the entertainment and the food is pretty dang awesome too. Thanks mom, dad, and gparents for dinner. Your gifts and cards were kind too! My bday didn't end at dinner. I get the next two days off for spring break. Hope the weather stays nice.

Sunshine Generation

(Not the best pics - check out the video footage)

My sister has her kids in the singing group Sunshine Generation. Luckily it isn't the most strict singing group and they sure have fun doing it. Makell and Kaison get really shy up on stage. Kaison was exhausted during this performance and he had to use the restroom. My sister is good to always give her kids opportunities to explore different prorgrams and groups. These kids do singing, swimming, and soccer. Kaison loves to ride his bike and four wheel. They both will be well rounded!!!
