July 15th & Counting down!!!

I started reading the sixth book again before the movie comes out on July 15th. I will be in Lake Powell when it premiers but I can't wait to see it the day I get home. I had forgotten many of the good details. This book is intense! I can't wait to see how they made the movie! The trailer looks pretty sweet!

#1 DAD

I sure love my dad. He always helps me with my car, lets me use his truck when I go on bike trips, he is a good example of a hard worker and someone who works at the hobbies he loves. He has started an amazing garden and has improved his golf game by reading, practicing, and reading about techniques. Love you dad!!!

6

My niece, Makell, turned six on June 12th. My parents, my friend Melissa, and I went to Fruita, CO to celebrate. Melissa came for the race on the 13th but she celebrate and played with the kids just like the rest of us.

Makell went to Bananas for her birthday party. She invited a few friends and played for hours together. Melissa and I didn't make it to CO until later but we were able to play with her toys, eat cake, and sing!

After the race, we hiked around the Colorado Monument. It was windy and about t0 rain but it was still gorgeous. I love where Amy lives - absolutely breathtaking!

2/3 of the race

This morning my good friend Melissa and I did 2/3 of our sprint tri. coming up on the 13th. We biked 16 miles and ran 3 miles along the Gardner Village Trail. It was a trick running after biking. My legs were jello. I can't thank Melissa enough for doing this with me. Training with a friend sure makes it fun!

Surfin' Powell, USA

Good times in Powell!!! We had a blast in Powell. Growing up we would usually go once a year to Lake Powell. We would camp, play mostly in the water, and get a bit a boat time. Luckily this weekend we got plenty of boat time, slept on a house boat, and had a ball with family and friends. I will always be thankful for my sister's toys. They are sweet to share!!!

It rained a lot during the weekend but during the breaks we took advantage of epic rides on the board, wake board, air chair, and tub. The kids loved the tub and Krehl gave Kai and Makell a ride on the surf board. I have been working on clearing the wake - still have a lot more the learn but I am getting it. After a hard blow to my head I was done...until the next time!

The houseboat made the weekend very convenient with protection from the elements, a killer steep slide, and no loading and unloading of the boat - I bet Krehl was very thankful. How did we ever do Lake Powell all of those years without it?

Zoo

Amy & Krehl and the kids were in town for Mother's Day! We went to the Zoo Saturday. It was Mom and Me at the Zoo Day. We bought the T-shirts and got into the zoo for the price of the shirt $7. What a crazy day at the zoo - busy!!! We rode the train, browsed the animals, watched the bird show (my favorite part), and watched the kids ride the carousel. Amy treated herself to a massage. They had a booth for free massages...she slipped right in before the line was a mile long. Great day to celebrate the women we love - MOM!!!

The Eagles

Luckily I was able to go to The Eagles concert last minute with Ben, Catherine, and his mom. We were on the floor and danced the night away! The sound was perfect and the ld screen behind the band was amazing. My sister and her husband also had tickets. My sister came back to our section because I was not allowed to go past her section. The Eagles only played two songs from their new album and the rest I knew. It was a classic concert! Loved it!

I haven't rode it yet because I need to get pedals but I plan on getting some this weekend at the REI Anniversary Sale (coupon 20% off). If anyone wants to ride together - let's do it! I need to break in my new wheels.

Moab Rain & Shine

Nine of us headed down to Moab for the weekend. Friday Ben and I left early to be able to ride Slick Rock. We only had time for part of it but the 6 miles we rode was spectacular! When we started looking for a camping site everything was booked. With the suggestion from my brother-in-law we found a site just past the Slick Rock trailhead. It was perfect at that time. Thanks Krehl!

Porcupine Rim was a fantastical ride. We started in the pouring rain heading uphill along slick rock and mud. The uphill was a killer for me but of course slow and steady got me to the top. The view was amazing and our lunch hit the spot. We had two in our group that hadn't ridden much and they both rocked this trail. During the ride we had moments of sun & rain. Just before the worst storm we had a few miles in the sun. Felt great!

When we saw the storm moving in, it looked like a wall of doom coming right at us. It rained cats & dogs, thundered, and lightning. We hid under a rock and waited until the worst part past. The last part of the trail was a trip. It was single track along the rim of the Colorado River. Gorgeous!!!

After church we hiked Delicate Arch and visited Landscape Arch and Wall Arch. I didn't wear sunblock and got fried. Our group was amazing - we all pitched in with food, driving, and crashes. We kept each other laughing. Thanks groupies!!!

6

Last night we went to the SL REAL vs. NEW ENGLAND soccer game. The first half wasn't very entertaining. Real scored one goal but the rest of the game was just back and forth BUT the second half was insaine!!! They scored a total of 6 goals. They attempted many goals and a lot of their attempts were corner kicks. The excitement of the crowd made that game worth it! We got tickets for only $10 thanks to our ward and our seats were awesome. It was raining cats and dogs just two hours before the game started. I was debating about even going. Glad I did. It cleared up and the weather and game was fantastical! I wish I had the endurance of the Real players. They are tough.
