Don't pack away those winter clothes just yet: This morning famed groundhog forecaster Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, meaning winter temperatures in 2010 will continue for six more weeks—if you believe that sort of thing.

Yurtlympic Games

I do not have any of the pictures from our Yurtlympic Games but they will be coming. Our theme this year was all around the Olympics. We build a huge mountain structure that became the podium for the opening ceremony (New Years) with fire and fireworks. The following day we competed and participated in five events with three teams. The five events were: relay, bobsled, geo-caching, slalom, and ski jump. My team, red team, won two gold, two silver, and one bronze. I have never laughed so hard! The night of the games we went on two ski trips. One along the ridge before it got dark and one down to the weather station with moon light. I am not a very skilled cross country skier but definitely getting better. Saturday morning we cleaned up and skied back to the cars. I loved the group that went this year and loved every moment. What a great tradition. I have great friends!

Holidays in Fruita

Today I traveled to Fruita, CO to be with Amy and her family for the holidays. My nephew, Garrett (10 months), was diagnosed with diabetes last week. Amy, Krehl, Kaison, and Garrett are in Denver today meeting with a diabetes specialist. I've been playing with Makell and Quinn all day. They are color experts. Check out their master pieces!!!

Flashback to my dad's past

I was in my office last week and I saw some of the teachers looking at a Jordan High yearbook. I thought My dad went to Jordan as I looked closer to the yearbook it was the year my dad attended JHS. I have never seen any pictures of my father when he was young. He couldn't afford a yearbook or photos. I quickly asked if I could look at the yearbook and as I looked in the index I found my dad. When I thumbed to the page where his photo was located I didn't want to look at the names because I wanted to test myself to see if I could find my father. I did. It took a minute because I think he has changed but he sure was a handsome man especially with this swoop bangs.

What are you thankful for? I am thankful for you!

This is the first Thanksgiving I have been home in 5 years. I have served with VIDA in Mexico the past years working at an orphanage and building a home with Mexico's Save the Children FAI-Sonora. I was sad to not serve this year but it was nice being home with family. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Halloween '09

My parents went to Fruita, CO over Halloween. The kids had a ball!

Peace, Love, and Happiness!

I went to a party with my friends at Noah's for Halloween. It was a 25-40 dance - I didn't know that. I thought it was a house party at Noah's home. The dance was okay but definitely not my thing. I think there were a few people over 40. I felt like there were people my parent's age. Awkward!

SYTYCD

Amy, Mom, Celeste, and I went to the SYTYCD concert at the E Center on Saturday, November 7th. The top 12 dancers from season 5 performed group, trios, duos, and solo dance numbers. I was so overwhelmed with joy and talent I was smiling the whole night and even shed a tear or two.

The concert was never-ending. They talked a little to introduce each number but other than that it was full dance.

Top six girls who danced at the concert were Randi Evans, Caitlin Kinney, Janette Manrara, Jeanine Mason, Kayla Radomski, & Melissa Sandvig. The top six guys were Kupono Aweau, Brandon Bryant, Phillip Chbeeb, Jason Glover, Evan Kasprzak, Ade Obayomi & Jonathan Platero.

Run For Your VIDA - 5K

Saturday, October 31 VIDA organized their 2nd Annual 5K on Halloween. All of the effort and proceeds will be donated to the VIDA Mexico Housing Project. This year Marcia and Lindsey really worked hard to make this race happen. We as a board-helped with donations, runners, and volunteers. This year we earned $1,000 for the housing project. We still have a lot to learn about putting on an event but we are learning and still having a good time! Thanks to everyone who supported the race and donated your time, legs, and/or raffle prizes.
