Grizzly bears are like drugs

After going to dinner with my friends Melissa and Marni they told me about a variety of Utah bear sightings, accidents, & injuries. Growing up and still today I have gone hiking, backpacking, and camping with no fears of bears. Thanks to my friends I am now nervous to go in the outdoors...bears could be anywhere. It is a good thing to know because it's better to be safe than sorry. Ben Cook presented this presentation all about BEARS. Check it out!!! I would never call myself a runner but for some addictive reason I continue to sign up for races. I am running the Thanksgiving Point Half at the end of April. I am following a training guide I found online and because of my personality of following guidelines I do what it says. I know the training will make the race more enjoyable. I ran 6 miles on Saturday outside. This was my first run outside since I started training. Let me just say...at mile 4 I was hoping the ground would keep moving under my feet so I had to move my legs at a quicker pace. The hills of Sandy and the length sure pushed my endurance. I did it, it was a warmer day, and I only inhaled a few too many deep breaths of exhaust. Here's praying for comfortable weather so I can continue training and recreating outside. This half will get me going...Ragnar is in June + EAT * PRAY * RUN * REPEAT!!!

Banff

Every year I get excited to attend the Banff Film Festival (BFF) that comes to Kingsbury Hall. Last year I went all 3 nights, this year only 2. The price of the tickets went up and life is busy busy right now.
This is a selection of one of my favorite films from Tuesday night. The music in the film was most excellent, the views of the Russian rivers were amazing, and the humor of the fishermen was better than a knee slap.

Let the training begin!!! 20 weeks away 'til...

A good friend of mine got me involved on a team for the Ragnar Wasatch Back. We had our first meeting today & we set our vans and the legs we will run. We are going to have a blast. It is going to hurt but I know there will be entertainment had!!!

Christmas 2010 - Remember the Reason for the Season

Even after Kaison was hit twice by a tub and sled we all could laugh and remember the fun had on the sledding hill. Yea - Kai was on the side of the hill and a tub ran him over and then shortly after Krehl was trying to get him set on his sled and a lady came flying down the hill with no control and hit Kaison. He cut his lip and gums. He quit after that but later that night he said he still had a good time.

On Christmas Eve Amy had friends and family over for a ham dinner and the reenactment of the Luke 2 Christmas Story. I loved that Kylie wanted to be the donkey and made the star. Kaison was Joseph, Makell shared the star with Kylie, Quinn wanted to be a wise man, and Garrett was Baby Jesus even at the age of 2 (he was the youngest kid there).


The kids exchanged gifts and played for awhile before it was time to hit the sack to get ready for Santa to come..."Santa Claus is coming to Fruita, CO!"

Christmas Day - Makell woke up at 6:30AM and started waking everyone up. They were allowed to open their Santa gifts in their socks but they had to wait for Gma and Gpa to wake up before we could open the gifts under the tree. Makell was so excited! The kids got pillow pets and skis.

We made Santa Waffles but the kids didn't eat the waffle...just the candy & cream.

The weather was 50 degrees and perfect trails for an afternoon bike ride on Christmas Day. Amy, Michelle, and I biked Horse Thief right before dinner. Michelle had to get back in time for her family dinner so we cruised. It was amazing to see how many people were on the trails. Everyone shouted, "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas," as we passed. What a great memory and hopefully another tradition. Krehl, Dad, and the boys went skeet shooting.

I love my sister, her family, and I appreciate their hospitality. Christmas just wouldn't be the same without being with the kiddos. They bring such a neat spirit to the holiday!

Happy Holi-daze

  I've been making youtube mixes and playing them like the radio. I am obsessed with live music right now and Sara's voice put me right into the Christmas mood. My house is now all decorated for holidays. Let it snow!
